Kris & Chadd : Engagements ~ Gainesville, Florida

High school sweethearts. That is what people will call them. And, since that story is so similar to my own, I know what that means. It's a really special history. You sort-of grow up together, as friends, then as sweethearts.

When Kris told me she wanted to have a picnic in the park for her engagement session, I was thrilled...but when I saw how creative she was, I knew this was going to be fun! In addition to that, when Chadd told me he hung a swing (IN.THE.PARK.) just for the session...I was SOLD. This is just confirmation that I have the BEST clients. EVER.

Kris...you're just beautiful!

For Brides : First Look & Timelines

This is something I've been wanting to blog about for a while. It's always my goal to give my brides as much information as possible when planning her wedding so she can FIRST and foremost ENJOY her day AND get the beautiful photos she wants.

I'm a HUGE fan of First Looks. I think they offer the MOST creative possibilities for your wedding day...but of course, since I'm the photographer, you may think I'm biased. BUT, I was once a bride myself...and I opted to have a First Look also. It was the BEST. DECISION. EVER. It was so nice to have a quiet moment with my groom, so we could say how we felt in that moment (without all of the guests) and most of all, we got BEAUTIFUL images.

Think of a First Look as private session for you and your spouse on your wedding day. We choose a PICTURE PERFECT location. Your groom waits alone for you...and as you walk up to him he turns around to see you for the first time...he is overwhelmed with your beauty. The two of you laugh, cry...and just soak up the moment. It's such a beautifully intimate moment, just for the two of you. After the initial First Look, we then get creative with some photos of the two of you. So, after the ceremony, the bulk of your photos are done...so you can enjoy the celebration!

That leads me to my text topic: TIMELINES. A timeline is a MUST for a bride on her wedding day. I always meet with my bride before her big day to discuss her timeline. It's important to know when everything is planned to happen and where each person will be. Brides...if I can offer a TIP??...ask your photographer for suggestions BEFORE setting your day in stone. They can offer some great advice about allowing enough time for photos before the ceremony or how long to allow after the ceremony before the reception, etc....planning hair & makeup, etc.

While I wish that all brides decided to have a First Look, it's most important that you plan your day according to what YOU want. One day when you look back on your wedding, you won't remember every little detail, but you will remember if you were happy.

Christy & John {Engagement Session}

He's quiet and charming. She's funny and warm. They have a history, years of stories full of memories. He won her over with his smooth lines and she knows just how to make him smile. He admits to her being irresistible in her boots (and making the best fruit dip ever). In the midst of their history, they called it quits...but could not give up on each other. God mended their relationship and they are making a new start. The will be re-married in May and I'm honored to be photographing their wedding. Congratulations to you both...you're just so BEAUTIFUL together.

Love is in the Air: WINNER

OK, I didn't get as big as a response as I had hoped for this contest...but then again maybe I'm not approaching this correctly?? (I've never hosted many contests...LOL)

BUT, I'm thrilled with the winner. This couple fits BOTH categories: married and engaged!! They have a beautiful story of marriage, heartbreak and reconciliation. They didn't have any pictures of themselves to submit, so I'm so EXCITED about doing an engagement session for them!! Congratulations John and Christy!!
