Spring is on its way!

Spring is quickly approaching (one of my favorite times of year). I thought it would be fun to offer some mini-sessions again this year...with LIVE baby chicks! (what AM I thinking???, just kidding, I know the children will have so much fun with them!).

The sessions will be on March 17, beginning at 10am, ending at 3pm. This is a one day ONLY offer, so please reserve your spot early.

The backdrop is going to be ADORABLE (think vintage farm)...whitewash fence, wagon, mason jars, etc. I can't wait for you to see it!

Holiday Mini-Sessions 2011

Wow! I can't believe it's almost the holidays AGAIN. This year, I thought it would be fun to change things a bit...remember that story, the City Mouse and the Country Mouse? That was kind of the inspiration (what can I say? I have a pre-schooler).

Anyhow, I'm offering two dates again, but TWO DIFFERENT locations. This way, you will have a choice. If concrete, brick and lamp posts are how you roll...GREAT! You will LOVE the more urban-ish session: City Location. (local location announced when you book)

If you prefer the slower pace and comfort of nature and natural settings...GREAT! You will LOVE the more rustic-ish session: Country Location. (local rustic area announced when you book)

Let your hair down

Hair is a popular subject in my home these days...thanks to Rapunzel. She is my daughter's new hero. Regan's favorite thing to do is to dress up...and lately, she is dressing like Rapunzel. This particular character has been chosen for this year's halloween costume (which, uh, I need to get started on making).

Well, this weekend, I decided to make Regan some "Rapunzel hair" (inspired by Pinterest). So, a roll of golden yarn (only $2.50!!!) and about 10 minutes later, we had a Rapunzel braid (and a very happy little girl).

 

This brings me to announce Costume Mini-Sessions...who is your child going to be this year?? Or perhaps it's their FAVORITE character or hero?? (Regan's favorite earlier this year was Jessie, from Toy Story2...so I did a Cowgirl Photoshoot to capture it before she outgrew it.)

Kiddos, props and playtime

Do you stress out when it's time for family portraits? You spend weeks putting together "coordinating" outfits. Then the day of your session, you are rushed, have a bad hair day, threaten your children if they don't "smile nice" and then show up frazzled for your appointment. NO? (maybe that's just my family)

It can be easier. My approach to children's sessions (really ANY session) involving a child is to ENGAGE them in something. This can be anything...to picking flowers...searching for bugs...or singing a song. (then they tend to loosen up and forget about the camera). My goal is to get the child involved, so they have a great time and the parent can relax.

My FAVORITE type of session is a "play" session...this type of session generally has a theme. These can be ANYTHING...from a picnic, tea party...sword fight...whatever you can come up with (especially if it's what the child is currently interested in). These sessions are styled  with that in mind...and the child can just pretend...and play. (while I capture those sweet smiles)

I recently did one of these with my daughter and my niece, I set up a picnic...and just let them be (with an occasional goofy face or obnoxious noise). I love the results...they're just having fun...being "themselves."

 

Back to School Sessions!!!

It's that time! (and my little girl is starting Pre-K this year...whew how time flies!)

In honor of that, I'm offering a Back-to-School Special!!! This is a mini-session (about 30 minutes) with 10 images on CD for $60!! Call or email to book yours...this offer ends September 1st. (any travel outside of the Bradford/Clay area may incur a travel fee)

It was a joy to meet little Miss N**. She was so precious! She just slept her way through the session...being adorable, without effort. (look out mom and dad...you're going to have trouble keeping the boys away!)

Celebrate Childhood ~ All about me session

My daughter is turning four....where has the time gone? Just yesterday I brought her home from the hospital...or so it seems. She is growing up so fast...I don't want to miss a moment. That is what prompted this session, in addition to her current love for ALL THINGS cowgirl.

Ever since she saw Toy Story3, she has wanted to be "Jessie, the cowgirl". Her birthday is in a couple of weeks, so I was frantic about capturing her in this current phase...cowgirl boots, ponies and pre-school.

If you have a child, you understand how precious and fleeting their childhood is...so make the most of it....capture them JUST LIKE THEY ARE NOW. These NEW "All About Me Sessions" are the perfect way to capture what they're into: whether it's super heros, princesses or collecting rocks...this phase of their life is beautiful. In just a short time, they will move onto something else.

Soon to Bloom! ~ Starke Flower Field

I LOVE spring! I love the warmer weather, the promise of summer and everthing in bloom! That also means that the flower field will be blooming soon!! SO...what I'm doing is starting a list of clients that are interested in Flower Field Photos this year. What I'll do is give you a call as soon as it startS to bloom and we'll schedule your appointment.

DON'T WAIT...this field is only REALLY full of blooms for about a week...then they begin to wilt. So, email/call me to get on the list, pick out your clothes....and we'll be all set!!

Be Mine: Sweets, Sweeties & More...

Valentine's Day is approaching!! If your child is like mine, I'm sure he/she has their favorite hero or heroine. However, if you're looking to do something extra special {AND SWEET} for Valentine's Day...why not custom cards?

I can create a custom card from your child's session and we can do pretty much anything with it: add a lollipop to it...use them to make goody bags for school...etc.

This year, I'm planning to do just that: I'm going to have cards printed with my daughter on them...then she and I will stuff some goody bags with sweets and attach the card as a "label." SIMPLE...and SWEET! Go ahead, call me today to schedule your session!
